WOMEN AND THE WORLD THROUGH A WOMAN'S EYES

Imagining women as central, not as objects of a gaze but as having an interiority unreachable by the gaze, despite the paradox inherent in filmmaking that by placing focus initiates a possessive gaze. My film explorations and experiments - with loops, with nonlinear narrative, and with humor - are all attempts to ignite a shift in meaning-making related to the acts and appearance of females.

THE AMERICAN DREAM

Set in Beverly Hills and the Los Angeles river, this video created in cooperation with the Green Screen Film Festival contrasts the fantasy and reality of the American Dream through images of two female archetypes.

WOMEN'S WORK LOOPS -The essence of women's work is found in repetitive gestures that never finish definitively. Washing, cooking, cleaning, these are infinite rather than finite actions in that they are never truly done with. Time functions differently when fo cus is on the doing rather than the completion, and value is located elsewhere than in the artifact.

THE GEOMETRY OF PIE

Part memoir, part philosophical musing on the traditional role of women as household cook and what it means to continue the recursive arts of the family kitchen.
